MOVEMENTS (IN PROGRESS)
"IMAGINATION IS EVERYTHING. IT IS THE PREVIEW OF LIFE'S COMING ATTRACTIONS."

STARTING POSITIVE MOVEMENTS AND CONNECTING PEOPLE THROUGH DESIGN
Projects focused around making people feel good, showcasing their individuality, relieving stress and encouraging them to embrace themselves, as they are. In an ideal world, these projects would start movements of positive growth and support. I am me and I want you to be your best version of self.
Positive Propaganda is also meant to reduce the gap between viewers and visual communication. These pieces speak to specific people in order to empower them to be leaders of good in their communities. I want viewers to feel connected to these visual pieces on a personal level without the feeling of apathy that screens, insecurities and physical distance can cause.
WORDS OF WISDOM
Words of Wisdom started out as a personal project, for me only. In an attempt to make my Eebs persona more concrete, I came up with 9 'tips' to help those who wanted to understand and deal with Eebs in the most effective way possible. It was a way for me to make my persona more real. I realized that Eebs had lots of advice to give me - to make me more decisive, more confident, more empowered.
I wanted to see if Eebs could offer any advice to participants. I asked people who wanted to take part to write in with a question for Eebs. I promised to respond with a personalized piece which included their response. Some of the questions were silly: 'How do you tell you friend that they're annoying when they're drunk?'. Some of them were much deeper and caused me to contemplate about my own position in life: 'How can I feel/experience true satisfaction with myself when I feel weak and don't know where to start?'.
The project took on a life of its own. 30 personalized pieces were made. It encouraged much reflection for myself and the participants and it brought us closer together to know that we all deal with the same fears. The 'Words of Wisdom' made me realize that we all have a 'wise' version of ourselves that we can tap into, if we choose to channel it. It also made me feel that we are all in this together - a beautiful feeling.
Showcasing Individuality is an ongoing project focused on creating mantras of individuality. Participants write in with a piece which describes 'what makes them them'. Can be short or long. Embrace yourself, flaws and all. You are you and that's a wonderful thing.
Participants receive personalized, type focused posters meant to be read and reread as daily mantras. I read their pieces and mirror them back in my own words. Seeing the beauty in others allows you to see the beauty in yourself and vice versa. A mutually beneficial exercise for myself and participants. This project is intended to remind the participants of what makes them unique - to encourage a positive self-image - to encourage a love of self - to stimulate confidence to take on the day with gusto.
'I AM NOT CUTE' - FOR WORKPLACE EQUALITY
I AM NOT CUTE offers a voice to all those who feel their age, gender, attire and status have been considered more important than their skills and abilities in their workplace. Often, this devaluing occurs with dimissive and derogatory comments. It's tough to speak up when the comments are coming from your boss and you're hoping for that promotion.
I AM NOT CUTE is a community of empowerment and support.
This project is in-the-works. Stay tuned for a multi-platform campaign and an online community.
NB. This project is being undertaken in collaboration with Chandra Schecter.
